Programs & Services

Victim Quick Response Program+ (VQRP+)

Funded by the Ministry of the Attorney General (MAG), Victim Services may provide short-term financial assistance to eligible victims of crime and their immediate family members to address immediate needs, enhance their safety, prevent revictimization and promote healing. Eligibility criteria and timelines apply.

Some Eligible Crime Types:

  • Homicide
  • Human Trafficking
  • Child Abuse
  • Attempt to Commit Murder
  • Domestic Violence
  • Criminal Harassment
  • Hate Crime
  • Elder Abuse
  • Sexual Assault
  • Serious Assault (Assault with Bodily Harm and/or a Weapon)

Financial assistance may be available for the following expenses that are in direct result of the crime:

  • Safety expenses such as home safety repairs or providing cell phones
  • Emergency accommodation
  • Transportation to safety and related expenses
  • Crime scene cleanup
  • Counselling services and associated travel
  • Funeral expenses for homicide victims
  • Serious injury supports.

Victim Crisis Assistance Ontario (VCAO)

This program provides a variety of crisis intervention services for individuals and families in the immediate aftermath of a crime, violence by an intimate ex-partner and sudden tragedy.

We offer free services to all ages regardless of gender, socio-economic status, race, colour, creed, ancestry, place of origin, political beliefs, religion, marital status, disability, age, or sexual orientation.

Victim Crisis Response and Referral Services

Victim Crisis team (trained staff) support 24/7 telephone and on-scene referrals and assistance for individuals and families in the aftermath of tragedy, crime, or disaster. Services offered include emotional support, making of phone calls, transportation to safety, immediate safety planning, and referral to longer-term services.

We work with clients to create:

  • Comprehensive safety plans
  • Reassess safety options as circumstances change and provide advocacy
  • Linkages to community and peer supports
  • Assists with the completion of VQRP applications.
